Temperatures are rising and most people might think of their next holiday at the beach. Yet, if you cannot get enough of the white stuff that does not mean you have to wait until winter returns. There are several great glacier ski resorts in Austria. We want to introduce you to one of them, namely Hintertux.

Hintertux Glacier is one of the most famous ski destinations in Austria. It is located at the very end of Tux valley with the mountain Olperer (3476 m) looming over the resort. The resort is not recommended for beginners as the trails are quite demanding. However, if you’re an advanced skier or rider you will most likely fall in love with this resort. In contrast to other summer ski resorts such as Kitzsteinhorn, it offers varied terrain with different snow consistencies ranging from icy to compact. The trails called Riepensattel, Gefrorene Wand are especially recommended and will make any snow aficionado’s heart beat faster. And also experts can enjoy skiing here which is why you will find many pro-teams train here for slalom and giant slalom in summer.

Freestylers looking for some action will find a new home at the terrain park called Betterpark which offers everything you need: numerous rails for grinding, jumps in all varieties and a half pipe are not to be missed. It is located next to the surface lift Olperer so you virtually can’t miss it. Yet, snowboarders will also have a lot of fun on the ordinary slopes. Yet, the same applies to riders as to skiers: This is not a place for beginners, you should already be a confident rider.

All those looking for some aprés ski fun will find two locations on the mountain as well as many bars and clubs down in the valley. The only downer might be the heavy prices. Yet, if you’re willing to spend some money you will certainly have a great time!
Hinterux also has a lot of attractions beside the trails. For instance, you may visit the Ice Palace. Enter a dreamlike world of sparkling crystals and be enchanted! It is a breathtaking visual adventure that you shouldn’t miss.
Hintertux is a quite popular destination – also in summer. Many tourists come for hiking or mountaineering. Thus, you should be aware of the fact that it might be difficult to find accommodation even though it is not winter.
