The Tyrol is one of the most beautiful regions in Austria and has a lot to offer, especially for skiers. The Tyrol provides not less than 212 ski resorts which makes it one of the most popular destinations amongst winter sportsmen. However, such an amount also makes it harder to decide which ski resort to choose.
Therefore, I want to introduce you to to the most beautiful ski resorts in the Tyrol:

St. Anton am Arlberg

St. Anton is a special place as it combines tradition and an international atmosphere. The resort is one of the most popular ones in the Tyrol. Here you will not only find 280 km of varied trails but also panoramic views of the mountains around. Thanks to its great variety of trails this resort is recommended for skiers and riders of all ability levels. Beginners have access to a huge network of easy trails throughout the resort. Yet, the resort is an eldorado for advanced skiers. There are 27 intermediate trails promising pure winter fun. In addition, there are several ski routes available so you’ll never get bored in St. Anton. If you’re looking for a real challenge you should try route No 18.

Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is a beautiful ski resort offering two mountains that leave nothing to be desired. Ahorn is the mountain for beginners providing 18 km of easy trails. In addition, there are also some intermediate trails. If you’re looking for a little more action you should choose the other mountain, Penken. There are wide open trails as well as steep challenging trails. Here you will also find the famous trails called “Harakiri” which are the steepest trails in entire Austria. Fans of powder snow can ski off piste next to almost all of the trails.

St. Johann in Tirol

St. Johann in Tirol is the perfect place for all those who prefer a smaller ski resort. Despite its size the resort offers everything you can ask for. Most trails marked as easy or intermediate which makes it a great ski resort for beginners and families. You hardly ever have to take an intermediate trails to get to the next easiest trail. Yet, this doesn’t mean that St. Johann isn’t a great place for advanced skiers, too. Besides easiest trails there are also many intermediate and difficult trails available so everyone can have lots of fun here. The trails No 4a and b are especially recommended.

Undeniably the Tirol has some beautiful resorts, but the slopes tend to be somewhat on the busy side, with lengthy waits for lifts. For fewer queues, Styria can’t be beaten and the beauty is unspoilt by the crowds.
