We spoke to representatives of the British Disabled Ski Team at the Ski Snow, this year and decided to find out more about them and what we can do to support the team:
Who are the members of the British Disabled Ski Team for the 2009/2010 winter season?
A Team: Sean Rose, Russell Docker, Tim Farr, Talan Skeels-Piggins, Jo Willoughby, Jane Sowerby
B Team: Anna Turney
Development: Sam Hallem, Kelly Gallagher (Guide Claire Rob) Martin Hewitt, Steven Shine, Mick Brennan
Apart from the Olympic Games in Vancouver, what other events will the team take part in this winter?
The team will have competitors in Europa cup and NorAm level races as well as World Cups and the World Cup finals. The development squad and youth teams will mostly be concentrated around the nationals in Europe. >> Continue reading

Melanja Šober is a full time Ski Instructor in the Chilean ski resort of Portillo. Originating from Slovenia, Melanja is an experienced ski racer in both Alpine and Telemark disciplines, with titles including Junior World Telemarking Champion and Slovenian Champion alongside some impressive World Cup results. Scott Hammond is a professional ski instructor, ski technician and an expert on ski hardware originally from London, England. Scott lived and worked in Verbier, Switzerland for 9 years, Cervinia, Italy for 3 years and now lives in Lillehammer, Norway. He manages White Mountain Sports, a ski shop, skiing school and ski in/ski out accommodation services.
What is your job title and what does it involve?My job title is Shop Manager/Director/Chief bottle washer.
My job involves the daily running of White Mountain Sports and bar. From cleaning the floors, toilets (and bottles) to paying the bills and managing the staff. An ever increasing trend in the ski industry is the growth of people keen to improve their ability and also become snowsports instructors. Reflecting this increase in demand is the increasing number of companies offering both instructor and improvement courses. One of the first companies to offer these courses was NONSTOP Ski & Snowboard who have been running since 2002.
This family run company was set up by Rupert Taylor after he had spent a season in Fernie working as a snowboard instructor. He recognised the demand for instructor and improvement courses and also the great potential that Fernie offered.
