The Skiing Department is a skiing blog compiled by ISIA qualified skiing teacher and ski journalist Robert Stewart.
The Aim of this blog
Provide comprehensive tips, advice and opinions on a variety of skiing related topics such as learning to ski, off-piste skiing, ski clothing, the mountain environment and the enjoyment and philosophy of skiing. All based on the knowledge and experience that Robert has in the world of skiing.
My Experience in Skiing
Robert has extensive knowledge and experience of winter sports and has been qualified to instruct and teach Alpine Skiing for over 20 years.
For several years Robert was a professional freestyle skier, competing in Freeride & Freestyle competitions, throughout the world. He is also an experienced off-piste or backcountry skier. He is known to Telemark and enjoys ski touring.
Ski resorts where Robert lived, worked and skied include, Verbier, in Switzerland, Chatel, Chamonix, Les Orres, in France, Queenstown, in New Zealand and Aveimore, in Scotland. Other notable ski destinations include many of the ski resorts in Norway, Sweden, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, New Zealand and Scotland.
